Welcome to Olives and Lamb!
Hi, I’m Olivia and welcome to Olives and Lamb! I’m an all around food lover: I love developing recipes, trying out recipes, eating and reviewing restaurants, and food photography. Anything that involves food, I’m here for it! As long as I can remember, I’ve always had an interest in food. I initially gained an interest in cooking through watching my grandma cook, food magazines, TV shows, and food blogs. Eventually, I started cooking for birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings.
I went on to study Culinary Arts and Food Service Management at Johnson & Wales University. Throughout my college years, I worked at restaurants, cafes, and hotels. While these were great experiences, I found that I was more fascinated in creating my own recipes and curating them to what I felt inspired by, which opened my eyes to the world of food photography, recipe development, and food styling. What started with an easy bake oven has now transformed into my career. I now work as a food and prop stylist and am dedicated towards sharing new recipes with all of you!
This blog is just as much for me as it is for you. I love taking inspiration from restaurants, my travels, other peoples recipes and adding my own personal flair to them. I believe that food is a way to bring a past memory or experience to life. All of the recipes I develop serve as a special little reminder of an experience I can relive again at home, and I love having this creative outlet to share my memories with all of you!
Fun Facts!
- I’m a HUGE family person. I’m very lucky that my family is so close. I don’t know what I would do without them. My parents, my sister, and my dog Dash (rip) are truly my best friends.
- I’m a morning person. I cannot remember the last time I slept in past 9AM. I’m a total grandma who goes to bed at 10PM and wakes up as soon as the sun rises.
- I love being active. I thrive off of feeling productive, and an easy way to do that is by staying active. Simply moving my body in some way everyday makes me feel accomplished and motivates me to have a productive day.
- I’m Chinese-American. My parents were born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the U.S. in their early teens. I actually don’t know how to cook a lot of authentic Cantonese dishes, but I certainly hope to have a few staple recipes up my sleeve as I grow older.
- I have a huge sweet tooth. Ice cream, donuts, cookies…you name any baked treat and I’m 100% ready to consume it.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about me!
