Brazilian Piña Colada Lemonade

2 glasses of Brazilian Piña Colada Lemonade

New Lemonade on the Block

If you’ve been paying attention to social media, you may have noticed a new lemonade recipe popping up in your feed. The recipe for Brazilian Lemonade has infiltrated my socials this summer and I just had to try it out. What makes it different from regular lemonade is that it uses limes and sweetened condensed milk. The limes add a bit more of an acidic taste. Then the sweetened condensed milk adds sweetness, creaminess, and a bit of viscosity to the texture. While it tastes amazing as is, my toxic trait is that I love combining new recipes with my favorite foods. Piña Coladas were my drink of choice for the summer and whenever my family was on vacation. I loved the combination of the coconut flavor, acidity, and milkiness. I couldn’t get enough! Because Brazilian Lemonade and Piña Coladas share similar flavors and ingredients, I thought they would go perfectly together. And spoiler alert… they do!

Lime Time

This Brazilian Piña Colada Lemonade is so easy yet tasty that you may start making it all year ’round. Like I mentioned, Brazilian lemonade uses limes and sweetened condensed milk. So add the quartered limes, sweetened condensed milk, granulated sugar, and cold water into a blender. Yup, you hear that right! We’re not just using the juice from the lime — we’re adding the whole lime, peel and all. Blend it all together for two, short 8 seconds pulses. There should be medium chunks of lime skin broken apart. Be sure to not blend until smooth or for too long. If you blend the lime skin too much, the drink will taste bitter. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the chunks of lime and rinse out the blender.

Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy the Drink

Pour the strained mixture back into the blender. Add in the frozen pineapple, cream of coconut and ice. For clarification, cream of coconut is not the same as a can of coconut milk or coconut cream. Cream of coconut is a coconut cream that’s been sweetened and processed into a thick syrupy texture. It’s often used for cocktails, so it can typically be found in the alcohol aisles of grocery stores. Blend the drink together until frosty and smooth. Pour the drink into glasses and garnish with a maraschino cherry. Oh, but it doesn’t stop there! As we all know, a pina colada often has light rum mixed into it. So if you want to get a little crazy, add 1.5 oz of light rum to each drink!

This Brazilian Piña Colada Lemonade is such a fun drink to make when you have friends or family over. Heck, even if you just want a relaxing weekend or a staycation, this would be the perfect drink to whip up to feel like you’re on island time. It’s got that frosty, frozen drink texture. Then you have the sweetness from the pineapple, creaminess from the condensed milk and cream of coconut, and then a zesty zing from the lime. It’s sweet, tropical, and refreshing, which is the perfect combination to have a relaxing summer. So let me know what your favorite vacation drink is, or if you would try this out in the comments below!
