The Easiest Mango Salsa

Mango Salsa

Servin’ Up Salsa

You didn’t think I’d leave you hanging with just a guacamole recipe did you? Of course not! Every guacamole needs a salsa! This is a different take on the salsa you’re thinking about — you know the red tomato one in the jar located in the chip aisle with the Tostitos logo on it? No hate on Tostitos though! Believe me, as much as I love using fresh and whole foods, sometimes you just need a jar of ready-made salsa. Anyway, today we have a super simple mango salsa recipe! And when I say “super simple,” I mean the only instruction for this salsa recipe is to add everything into a bowl and mix it together. Amazing, right?

Mango Salsa with Chip

Mangoes in Salsa?

In sixth grade, my Spanish class had a salsa and guacamole party. Students brought in homemade salsa and guacamole recipes, and we had to vote on which salsa and guacamole recipes were the best. The winner for the salsa was not me (sorry to disappoint you guys) but a classmate who brought in a peach salsa. I remember this being the first time I was introduced to a different version of salsa where a different fruit — besides a tomato — was the base of it. This moment really opened up my mind to taking steps away from traditional recipes and creating ones that are more unique. And here we are today with this mango salsa recipe!

Mango Salsa

Hitting the Notes

I decided to take advantage of this marvelous mango season and use them as the base for the salsa. Let me tell you, this may not be Tostitos salsa, but this salsa recipe hits all the notes. There’s sweet, sour, spicy, and salty. The mangoes and tomatoes bring a burst of juiciness and sweetness; the lime juice and zest provide a zing of acidity that compliments the sweetness; the red onion and jalapeño offer a hint of spice; then you have the saltiness from the seasoning. You also have a variety of texture from the tender mangoes and tomato and the crisp red onion and bell pepper. After everything is mixed together, it creates its own natural juices that melds the flavors together, which forms a party in your mouth!

Salsa Your Summer

When you have time, definitely try this recipe out! Like I said, the only step after everything is diced is to mix it all together. You really cannot go wrong! This salsa recipe is so refreshing to eat when the heat is blazing, and it is au naturale, so your summer body will not take a hit! Also, you don’t have to be limited to eating this salsa recipe with chips. You can top this over seafood such as a white fish or scallops! Experiment! Let me know if you do try this mango salsa recipe out in the comments section down below, and I will talk to you in my next post! Have a great day!
