MewTripled Macarons + Black Lives Matter

When Two Worlds Collide

Hello, and welcome back to my blog! Things have been a little crazy, and I took some time off from posting to give more visibility to the Black Lives Matter movement. I didn’t want to come back right away to promote a new recipe, so I thought I’d share a little project I did with my sister: MewTriple Macarons.

Black Lives Matter

But before we get into our collaboration, I wanted to address some things about the state of the world. If you haven’t already noticed, I’m not the most eloquent writer. So it’s challenging for me to talk and write about serious matters where everyone has their own opinions. Nonetheless, the Black Lives Matter movement is so crucial to changing the world we live in.

Growing up, I attended a public elementary school in Queens that was pretty diverse. I also went an after-school program that was filled with students of all races and run by black teachers. Looking back at this time, it’s become apparent how much my school and after-school program has shaped my point of view. Because I was always surrounded by black people, I never saw them as different. I didn’t realize there was such prejudice against them because I viewed them as normal and equal people. In this time we’re in, I have learned to be so grateful for my upbringing because who knows where I would stand if I didn’t experience diversity at a young age.

People aren’t born racist — racism is learned. This is why educating people of all ages on this matter is so important. No matter how old you are, you are capable of changing. It’s just a matter of educating yourself and opening your mind and heart to the voices of others. Even though I was raised around black people, I still have so much to learn about the injustices black people face on a daily basis. We have the power to change others and ourselves to make the world a better place.

MewTripled Macarons

If you don’t know who my sister is, she goes by MewTripled on most of her social media accounts. She started off making animation videos on YouTube way back when, but a few years ago, she revamped her brand. Now, she is most known for her comics on Instagram, which aim to empower young girls and give her followers insight on the experiences she has faced. She also regularly uploads videos on YouTube, giving advice to aspiring artists and animators. And seeing as my sister always helps to promote my blog, it’s only right that I promote her merch line.

Moving on to the actual collaboration, my sister posed the idea of turning the characters — Meesh and Vera — in her comics into macarons earlier on when quarantine began. And after 2 months, we finally did it! I was a little concerned about how these would turn out since macarons are such a finicky pastry; however, these macarons exceeded all of my expectations.

Sunglasses Meesh Macaron
I messed up on one of the first macarons, so I gave her some dope sunglasses.

One of the main reasons for my success is due to the macaron recipe I followed. I used a recipe from Sumopocky because she is an expert in macaron character art. I figured since she’s a pro, she probably has a good macaron recipe. And she did not let me down! This has to be, hands down, the most temperate macaron batter I’ve ever worked with! So definitely check out her website and recipes if you’re looking to make macarons! We also filmed the whole process, so that video will be up on my sister’s YouTube channel sometime next week!

Love Ya’ll

This was such a fun collaboration with my sister and I’d like to thank her for always finding opportunities to help promote and grow my blog. I know a lot of my followers have come from my sister’s followers, so thank you to all of you for constantly supporting both of us!

Even though I’m going to begin regularly posting again, it doesn’t mean that everything is going back to normal. Black Lives Matter will still be a prevalent movement that we should continue to support. Let’s not let it die out! As always, thanks for tuning in and I’ll talk to you in my next post!
