Your New Favorite Appetizer
Well, I’ve done it. I have officially created the ultimate appetizer for all of your upcoming holiday gatherings. Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin with these Sweet Apple Sausage Rolls because there’s only so many ways I can express how delicious these are! So without further ado, let’s jump right into it!
Caramelized Goodness
These Sweet Apple Sausage Rolls are great for the fall because we have so many classic fall ingredients at play! We have pork sausage mixed together with caramelized apples, wrapped in puff pastry, and baked until golden, flaky, and caramelized! Tis the season of apples, so I decided to take advantage of their sweetness and turn them into caramelized apples. Apples, red onion, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, sage, and thyme are cooked together until the apples turn jammy and caramelized. When mixed together with the sausage, they add the perfect amount of sweetness and the caramelization really comes through. Oh, and I can’t forget about the Garlic Mustard Dipping Sauce! This savory and garlicky sauce perfectly compliments the sweetness of the sausage rolls. And I mean, when can we ever go wrong with anything wrapped in puff pastry?!
A Fan Favorite
This recipe has seriously become one of my personal favorites and will definitely be making it for the upcoming holiday season! As a testimony of how delicious they are, my sister’s boyfriend told me he would pay for me to make them again. His words, not mine. I highly recommend trying out these Sweet Apple Sausage Rolls because they’re so delicious and I wouldn’t want you to miss out on this bite-sized bundle of flavor! Have a great day and I’ll talk to you in my next post!

- ½ cup Finely Diced Red Onion
- 1 Garlic Clove (minced)
- 6 Tbsp Water
- 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 ½ Tbsp Brown Sugar
- ½ tsp. Kosher Salt
- ¼ tsp. Ground Nutmeg
- ¼ tsp. Ground Ginger
For the Sausage Rolls:
- 1 lb. Ground Pork
- 1½ Tbsp Chopped Fresh Sage
- ½ Tbsp Chopped Fresh Thyme
- ½ tsp Kosher Salt
- ¼ tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 18 oz. Puff Pastry Sheets (2 sheets thawed)
- Egg Wash (1 egg beaten with 1 Tbsp milk)
- ¼ cup Everything Seasoning (no salt added)
For the Garlic Mustard Dipping Sauce:
- 1 cup Mayo
- 2 Tbsp Stone Ground Mustard
- 1 Garlic Clove (minced)
- ½ Tbsp Chopped Fresh Sage
- ½ Tbsp Chopped Fresh Thyme
- ½ Tbsp Lemon Juice
- Pinch of Kosher Salt
- ⅛ tsp Ground Black Pepper
Instructions
For the Caramelized Apples:
- Heat a pan over medium heat. Add all of the ingredients for the caramelized apples into the pan and cook until it starts bubbling. Reduce the heat to medium low and continue to cook for about 15-18 minutes until the apples caramelize to a deep brown color.
- Stir frequently to prevent the bottom from burning. If the pan gets too dry, add in an additional splash of water and mix. When the apples are done, transfer them to a bowl to cool and set them aside for later.
For the Sausage Rolls:
- Preheat the oven to 400˚F. Line a few baking sheets with parchment paper. Set them aside.
- Add the caramelized apples, pork , sage, thyme, salt and pepper to a large bowl. Combine the ingredients until everything is well incorporated.
- Lightly dust a clean work surface with flour. Roll out each sheet of puff pastry into a 8×12 inch rectangle. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise. Take one piece of dough and position it so that the longer sides are at the top and bottom. Portion a quarter of the sausage mix and form it into a log shape, about a half an inch away from the bottom edge of the puff pastry sheet. Mold it to the same length as the puff pastry.
- Starting from the bottom edge, roll the dough up so that the bottom edge overlaps the top edge of the puff pastry. Roll the log back and forth where the edges meet to close the seam. Use a knife to cut the roll into 8 even pieces and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining sausage mix and puff pastry.
- Brush the tops of the sausage rolls with the egg wash. Sprinkle the everything seasoning on top. Bake the sausage rolls in the oven for about 30-33 minutes until the sausage is fully cooked and the puff pastry is golden brown. Remove them from the oven.
To Make the Garlic Mustard Dipping Sauce:
- Add all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix until combined. Serve with the sausage rolls and enjoy!
