Crab Rolls

Seaside At Home

Is it really summer if you haven’t had a meal at a seaside seafood shack? I don’t think so. A lobster roll, a cup of clam chowder, or a crab cake just hits different with the sun shining on your face and the ocean waves crashing in the background. Reality is though, we don’t all live by a beach to get that full experience. So I’m bringing the seaside shack to your home! These Crab Rolls are an easy seafood recipe that you can easily whip up at home to pretend you’re by the beach. Buttery and fluffy rolls are stuffed with meaty pieces of crab meat tossed in a creamy, herby sauce. This is a no fuss recipe and you’ll be relaxing in the sun in no time.

Sweet, Sweet Meat

As much as I love a good lobster roll, I don’t think it’s the most approachable seafood to work with — especially for a casual recipe at home. What I love about lump crab meat is that it’s already prepared and you don’t have to dig through shells to get to the meat. All the hard work is done for you but you still get the same sweet, meaty chunks in the end. So add the crab meat into a large bowl along with the shallots, chives, dill, mayo, lemon juice, dijon mustard, hot sauce, and old bay seasoning. Gently mix everything together until combined. Taste for seasoning and add salt and pepper if needed. Set aside.

Heat a pan over medium heat. Add in the unsalted butter and allow it to melt. Partially split the buns open and add them cut side down into the pan. Toast for 1-2 minutes until warmed through and golden brown on top. Fill the buns with the crab salad and enjoy!

Summer By The Beach

I love these Crab Rolls because they are the perfect balance of sweet, savory, fresh, and indulgent. The warm, buttery buns are the perfect vessel to hold the creamy crab meat. Then the slight sweetness from the crab really helps to round out all the other acidic and savory flavors. Bonus is that there really is no cooking involved except for toasting the buns! So the next time you’re looking to mentally transport yourself to a small beachside town, make these Crab Rolls!
