Stay Hydrated
I feel like once Memorial Day comes around, the barbeques and outdoor gatherings begin. And there’s no greater combo than an outdoor party and a fruity drink! I love lemonade, but sometimes it can be too sweet and sticky in the hot weather. If there’s one thing I don’t want, it’s to have sticky hands in the sweltering weather. It’s also important to stay hydrated when it’s hot outside, so I don’t want to drink something that’s all sugar – I want something refreshing. Today, we’re going to run through how to make this Matcha Passion Fruit Lemonade, so you can serve it up all summer long!
This Matcha Passion Fruit Lemonade makes for the perfect refreshing and tropical drink. One of the best parts about making homemade lemonade is that you can control how much sugar you add in. If you know me, you know I like my desserts and food to be “not too sweet”. The addition of the matcha cuts the sweetness of sugar and allows the tartness of the passion fruits and lemon to shine through.
Homemade Lemonade
To get started on the lemonade, add 1 cup of the water and the sugar into a sauce pot. Bring it to a gentle simmer until the sugar has melted then set it aside to cool. In the mean time, let’s make the matcha! Add another 1 cup of water to a jar or a container that you can seal with a lid. Sift in the matcha powder to break apart any large clumps. Seal the lid on top and shake the matcha and water together until well combined. Set it aside.
Moving back over to our passion fruit lemonade, slice the passion fruits in half. Scoop the pulp and seeds into a food processor and pulse until the pulp has broken apart. At this point, you can strain the passion fruit seeds from the liquid if you so desire. I personally like to keep the seeds mixed in for the aesthetics and so people can tell it’s a passion fruit lemonade. You should get about ¼ cup of passion fruit pulp.
Add the blended passion fruit into the sugar water mixture along with the lemon juice and remaining cup of water. Scoop ice to your serving glasses. Pour in the passion fruit lemonade about ⅔ of the way up the glass. Shake the jar of matcha one more time then gently pour it over the ice until you fill the remaining third.
Life of The Party
Now, you have a beautiful and refreshing Matcha Passion Fruit Lemonade. The colors, layers, and flavors are so fun for the upcoming summer. If you like flavored lemonades or matcha, this should be right up your alley. And if you want something boozy for your party, add in a shot of your favorite vodka to each glass. Whether you’re drinking it as is or spiked, this Matcha Passion Fruit Lemonade is sure to be the life of the party.
