Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups Japanese Short Grain Rice
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 4 Garlic Cloves (minced)
  • 1 ½ tbsp White Miso Paste
  • 2 cups Dashi Stock or Chicken broth
  • ½ tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • Toasted White Sesame Seeds (for topping)
  • Sliced Green Onions (for topping)

Instructions

  • Soak the rice in cold water for 15 minutes. Drain the water then set the rice aside.
  • Heat a medium sized pot over medium heat. Add in butter and allow it to melt. Mix in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant. Add in the miso paste. Stir and cook for about 1 minute then add in the rice. Cook the rice for 2 minutes to toast then mix in the dashi stock, soy sauce, and sesame oil
  • Increase the heat to medium high and bring the mixture to a boil. Decrease the heat to low so that it is simmering. Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 20 minutes until the rice is cooked through and all the liquid has been absorbed.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and fluff the rice with a rice paddle or fork. Top with toasted white sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Enjoy!
