Buttered Up for Fall

Ever since I made my Whipped Blueberry Butter I’ve been fiending to make another compound butter. It was just so simple and delicious. I think it finally clicked to me how fun compound butters are and how they can elevate a dining experience. Since Fall is around the corner and figs are in their prime, I decided to make a Salted Maple Fig Butter. Creamy butter is mixed with maple roasted figs and flaky salt. It has the perfect sweet and salty flavor profile and will be exquisite on all of your fall bakes!

Simple, Sweet, and Salty

This whole process is very simple and starts with making the maple roasted figs. Preheat the oven to 400℉. Tear apart each fig into smaller chunks. I just used my hands but you can also dice them into chunks with a knife. Add them into a bowl along with the maple syrup, kosher salt, and cinnamon. Toss everything together until combined then transfer the figs and any syrup into a baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes until the figs are caramelized. Set them aside to cool to room temperature.

Add the unsalted butter into a bowl. Use a rubber spatula to give it a mix until the butter is creamy and fluffy. Fold in the figs with any syrup that was released and the flaky salt. To serve, dollop the butter into a pile on your serving dish. Drizzle additional maple syrup on top and give it another sprinkle of flaky salt on top. Finish with a fig half.

Go The Extra Mile

I am truly in love with this Salted Maple Fig Butter because it’s not quite a sweet butter, but it’s also not a savory butter. The butter itself has a burst of saltiness from the flaky salt, but then you’re hit with a warm sweetness when you get a bite of the caramelized figs. You definitely need to bookmark this one especially for the upcoming holidays. Imagine this next to a pile of dinner rolls or on a pumpkin scone. You name it, and it’ll be delicious spread onto it. It’s expected to have butter, but it’s not expected to make a homemade Salted Maple Fig Butter. When you go the extra mile for little side dishes like this, it elevates the dining experience and truly makes everyone else excited.
